Wayne County will be well represented in the IHSAA swim meet next week in the State Finals at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis after winning events at the New Palestine sectional on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The state final preliminary rounds will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 23, and the consolation rounds and the finals will be on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Richmond will be represented in the state finals in four events.

Red Devil junior Owen Fowler was a sectional champion in both the 50 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Freestyle.

Fowler also swam on two winning relay teams. Fowler joined Payne Forrest, Greyson Farmer and Masson Heiny to win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, and he joined Mason Burns, Farmer and Heiny to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.  

Hagerstown will be represented in the state finals in three events.

Tiger Shark senior Aaron Turner was a sectional champion in both 200 Yard Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Tiger Shark junior Carter Ramsey was the sectional champion in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

Centerville sophomore Eli West finished fourth in diving to advance to the diving regional on Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Plainfield. The Top 8 finishers from that regional meet will also advance to the state meet. 

New Palestine won the sectional team championship with 396.5 points. Richmond finished third with 278 points, Centerville finished sixth with 175 points and Hagerstown finished eighth with 149 points.
