The Centerville and Richmond boys and girls combined to raise $693 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer research in a pink-out dual swim meet held at Centerville High School on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
Centerville used their superior depth to win both meets. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Red Devils 104-59, and the Bulldog boys defeated the Red Devil boys by the score of 103-82.
Event winners for Centerville in the girls meet included:
- Avery Dickerson won both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.
- Yare Moreno-Espitia won both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.
- Taylor Heaston won both the diving competition and the 100 backstroke.
- Kenna Hemmerling won the 50 freestyle.
- The team of Heaston, Savannah Swope, Moreno-Espitia and Evie Morgan won the 200 medley relay.
- The team of Anna Nevels, Morgan, Hemmerling and Dickerson won the 200 freestyle relay.
- The team of Nevels, Moreno-Espitia, Hemmerling and Dickerson won the 400 freestyle relay.
Richmond event winners for Richmond in the girls meet included:
- Emma French won the 100 freestyle.
- Olivia Bailey won the 500 freestyle.
Event winners for Centerville in the boys meet included:
- Eli Brummett won the 200 IM.
- Eli West won the diving competition.
- Chase Roland won the 100 breaststroke.
- The team of Roland, Thatcher Anderson-Thompson, Sean Whaley and West won the 200 medley relay.
Event winners for Richmond in the boys meet included:
- Owen Fowler won both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.
- Greyson Farmer won both the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
- Layton Smith won both the 500 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
- The team of Braden Whited, Smith, Farmer and Fowler won both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
