William Backmeyer, a Community Christian School student from Richmond, served as a page for State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond) during the 2025 legislative session.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

“The Indiana Senate Page program is great way to get first-hand experience on how our government works,” Raatz said in a release. “I appreciated the opportunity to meet so many local students this year and I would recommend this experience to any student interested in civic engagement.”

Northeastern High School students Greyson Longnecker and Sierra Longnecker participated in the Indiana House Page Program.

During their day as pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff, toured the Statehouse and joined Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) on the House floor to watch the legislative process.

“I was thrilled to welcome Greyson and Sierra back to the Statehouse this year,” Barrett said. “This program is a great way for students to get involved, ask questions and learn about state government up close. I’m proud to see young Hoosiers like them take full advantage of the opportunity.”

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.

Parents interested in signing up their child for the 2026 program should visit indianasenatepage.com after Dec. 1 for more information.
