It’s a busy weekend for performing arts. Here are a few options for all ages.
- Mixing vaudeville, make-believe and charm, Richmond High School’s Red Devil Players present “A Year with Frog and Toad Kids” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8. They perform on the northern end of RHS in McGuire Hall, 350 Hub Etchison Parkway. The show about an enduring friendship is adapted from the three-time Tony-nominated Broadway show and is based on Arnold Lobel’s books. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Call 765-973-3424 for more information.
- Civic Hall Performing Arts Center welcomes the nationally touring Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience, led by an Emmy-winning singer/songwriter. Johnson put together a group of Midwest instrumentalists and arrangers to create a contemporary Jazz Pop sound. They honor legends like Frank Sinatra, with a nod to Michael Bublé and Lake Street Dive, while giving the music Johnson’s own twist. They perform songs ranging from the “Spider-Man Theme” to increasingly popular original works. Tickets for the show at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, are $40 for adults and $32 for students. They’re available at civichall.com, by calling 765-973-3350, or at the door, 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond.
