One of Richmond’s four taxi companies has not complied with Richmond Police Department inspection requests.
Officer Aaron Stevens, RPD’s administrative resource officer, reported to the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety during its Feb. 5 meeting that M&C Taxi did not comply with a scheduled Jan. 5 inspection date. It also failed to meet three other inspection dates and had not responded to a request that the required inspections be completed prior to noon Jan. 30.
Stevens said he might return to request the board suspend M&C’s ability to provide taxi services in the city.
RPD inspects each taxi vehicle and verifies each driver is properly licensed. The other three companies successfully completed the inspection process.
Street department bids
The board unanimously awarded bids for services provided to the city’s street department.
Overhead Door Co. was awarded the bid for two years of garage door maintenance. It bid $95 per hour for regular hours, $142.50 per hour for overtime hours and a parts markup of 30%.
Scott Door Service Inc. bid $95.50 for regular hours, $143.25 for overtime hours and 45% for the parts markup.
Wallace Heating was awarded the bid for two years of HVAC maintenance after bidding $100 for regular hours and $175 for overtime hours. North Mechanical bid $125 for regular hours and $175 for overtime hours.
D&D Janitorial was awarded the bid for two years of office cleaning after bidding $4,680 annually. That was less than half the $9,861.96 annual bid by Apex Cleaning.
Street closure
Culy Contracting received board permission to close Sim Hodgin Parkway between Bridge Avenue and Chester Boulevard for 12 hours.
The road will close at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 and reopen at 6 a.m. Feb. 13. Culy will be replacing an Indiana American Water valve.
The work is separate from the train bridge replacement that has closed Sim Hodgin from Bridge Avenue to Hub Etchison Parkway.
