A Richmond woman faces a preliminary charge of murder after police were called early Friday morning to a home on the city’s southeast side.
Richmond Police Department’s third-shift patrol officers were dispatched to 1512 S. Fifth St. for a report of a possibly injured person shortly before 1 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers located Kirsten Holland, 28, deceased at the residence, said Capt. Curt Leverton of RPD’s Investigative Services Division, in a media release.
Investigators were called to the scene to assist. Once on scene, they spoke with witnesses and collected evidence, Leverton said.
Police identified the suspect as Kristy Sue Sewell, 39.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Department jail records show Sewell’s address as the same South Fifth Street home as where Holland was found.
After further investigation, Sewell was lodged in the Wayne County Jail on a murder charge. Jail records show Sewell’s arrest taking place at 11:51 a.m. Friday.
