The Richmond cross country teams traveled to Terre Haute on Wednesday, Aug. 19, to participate in the rescheduled Valley Cross Kick-off hosted by Terre Haute South. Heavy rain forced cancellation on its original Aug. 15 date. 

The meet was run on the LaVern Gibson Championship Course. 

Northview won the boys race over Terre Haute South Vigo using its sixth-place runner’s score to break a tie. Brantley Blair from Oak Hill was the individual winner. 

Richmond had two runners in the top ten. Cale Newton placed fourth and Dash Thacker placed ninth. Other Richmond placements include Brady Newton 13th, Walt Brazil 22nd, Kolden Carpenter 41st, Trevin Crosby 50th and Henry Christian 59th. 

The team champion for girls was Terre Haute North Vigo High School. Addyson Bautista, also from Terre Haute North Vigo, was the individual winner. 

Lauren Newton paced the Lady Red Devils, finishing 22nd overall. Other Richmond placements include Caroline Swinney 29th, Lena Allen 36th, Samantha Hileman-Dudas 48th, Kemaira Farris-Craig 54th, Olivia Allen 69th and Alissa Lawson 81st.
