A Richmond Pride celebration will return June 27 to the Depot District.
During its March 12 meeting, the Richmond Board of Public Works and Safety approved closing Elm Place between North Eighth and North 10th streets from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the event.
According to materials provided the board by Benjamin Guard, the director of Rainbow Richmond, the free event will include live music, local artists, vendors and service organizations.
The board also approved renewal of a contract with Global Media Enterprise for development and production of the city’s video series, “Inside Richmond: The City’s Pulse.” The contract is for $10,104.
Lindsay Darnell, the city’s community development director, said the videos are designed to communicate city projects, initiatives and updates while enhancing community engagement and transparency. The videos, which range from 20 minutes to over an hour long, can be watched at youtube.com/@cityofrichmond4294/videos.
Richmond Fire Department received board approval for a $75,240 contract with Hoosier Fire Equipment Inc. for 20 sets of Globe turnout gear. The contract locks in the price for 2027 purchases, said Assistant Chief James Clark.
In addition, two addendums to demolition contracts with Jarrett Excavating received board approval. The two addendums total $3,440 and were needed to remove asbestos not found during initial inspections at 911 Boyer St. and 218 N. 20th St.
