The Richmond swim teams hosted the New Castle swim teams on Thursday, Dec. 12, for a closely contested meet. The Red Devils girls defeated the New Castle girls by 72-71, while the Richmond boys were defeated 95-70.  

The girls meet went down to the last event before determining the winner. The Lady Trojans were clinging to a 3-point lead entering the 400 freestyle relay race, but the Lady Red Devil team of Kate Holthouse, Catie Moore, Olivia Bailey and Emma French captured the race in a time of 4:28.81 to give their team a one-point win in the final team scoring. 

Other event winners for the Lady Red Devils included: 

  • The team of French, Bailey, Holthouse and Moore won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:20.70.
  • Bailey won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:21.81.
  • Holthouse won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:13.24.
  • French won the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:05.45.
  • Bailey won the 500 freestyle in a time of 6:14.67.
  • The team of Addi Jones, Katie Phillips, Rosa Colaj and Holthouse won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 2:25.85.

Event winners for the Richmond boys included:

  • Brodie Morken won the diving competition with a score of 177.85.
  • Owen Fowler won the 100 butterfly in a time of 53.31.
  • Layton Smith won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:17.60.
  • The team Fowler, Smith, Braxton Whited and Greyson Farmer won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.50.
