Already serving as Richmond High School’s Devilettes director, Civic Hall Performing Arts Center’s new manager is settling into her added responsibilities.

In a news release, Richmond Community Schools Superintendent Curtis Wright said 2003 RHS graduate Kimberly “Kim” Shipley is an ideal fit for the role she began in late September.

He noted Shipley’s passion for using the arts as a vehicle for connection and community building, combined with her solid background in fundraising, production coordination and creative leadership.

RCS officials say Shipley will focus on growing Civic Hall’s community and student programs and enhancing audience engagement.

“I believe the performing arts can make an incredible impact for audience development and community pride,” Shipley said in a news release.

When not in use for its nationally touring shows, RCS performances/events and Richmond Symphony Orchestra concerts, businesses and nonprofits can rent the venue.

Shipley became the hall’s fourth manager since the former gymnasium’s 1993 renovation. She’s the first RHS graduate to serve in that role.

Through her years of leading RHS’ drill/dance team, Shipley has managed its fundraising, budgeting and coordinated performances and events. Before joining Civic Hall, Shipley coordinated volunteers and improved processes as Girl Scouts of Central Indiana’s placement coordinator.

The Earlham College psychology graduate also has been actively involved with Richmond Civic Theatre.
