Local students raised more than $730 for United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund during their annual UNICEF Fair.
Richmond Friends School’s fifth and sixth graders researched 16 countries, including Poland, Ukraine, Chad, Zimbabwe, Syria, Greece, Oman, Mali and Nigeria. They prepared posters and presentations and a traditional dish or drink to share with guests.
Attendees donated $5 in exchange for vouchers to sample foods. The organization’s goal is to “relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation.”
