A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered for information related to the Sept. 8 destruction of the shelter at Greens Fork’s community center.
The reward is available for those who provide information leading to the conviction of the person(s) responsible for setting the fire.
Anonymous tips can be provided through 800-382-4628, iniaai.org, or P.O. Box 80132, Indianapolis, IN 46280.
The community center’s social media page shared a post from Michelle Gibbs Laymon, who called the fire “very unfortunate” for the center and the community.
“The Community Center has always strived to be here for the community and now we need your help,” Laymon’s message said. “Please if you know anything even if it’s small and you might think it’s nothing call the number on the poster. Someone knows something and the town deserves justice.”
The reward is provided by Indiana’s chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators in cooperation with the Indiana State Fire Marshal and property insurance companies operating in Indiana. The award’s amount depends on the value of the information as determined by the arson investigators’ association.
Community center leaders urge residents not to trespass on the center’s taped-off area because it’s not safe. They said police will be watching to make sure the rules are followed.
