Reid Health will receive an additional $6,000 for its Health First Indiana partnership with the Wayne County Health Department.
Wayne County’s commissioners approved the program director’s compensation during their March 4 meeting. The compensation previously was approved by the county’s Board of Health.
Reid was one of three partners to receive Health First Indiana programming contracts for 2026. Reid was allocated $76,946.71 of the $200,000 available this year for its programming addressing chronic disease, injury prevention, school health, maternal and child health, and access or linkage to care. However, the administration workload convinced the health department and health board to provide additional compensation for the director.
Bridges for Life received $64,200.65 and Birth to Five $58,852.65 for programming. The awards were about 70% of program requests.
Other issues
Commissioners will receive bids April 8 for the two-pronged project on the west side of the courthouse. The project entails improving the drive used by the sheriff’s department when transporting inmates and fencing the arched opening near the building’s chiller.
The Wayne County Advisory Plan Commission has forwarded commissioners a new flood plain ordinance with the recommendation commissioners adopt the ordinance. Commissioners will conduct a public hearing and consider the ordinance during their March 11 meeting.
Commissioners unanimously appointed Andy Morgan to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission to replace Jan Hibner, who resigned her position.
