The Richmond football team traveled to Aurora on the banks of the Ohio River on Friday, Sept. 12, to play at South Dearborn in a nonconference game.
The Knights, members of the Eastern Indiana Small Conference, built a 35-14 lead after three quarters and then held off a Richmond fourth-quarter comeback attempt to take a 35-28 win.
The Red Devils had a balanced attack with 176 yards through the air and 179 yards on the ground. Thomas Stargell connected on nine of 18 pass attempts for 176 yards and a touchdown pass to Ja’Riyah Delucio, and rushed for 26 yards. Tyziyah Stubbs was the leading Red Devils rusher, gaining 99 yards and scoring a touchdown. Jai Allen gained 37 yards and scored a touchdown.
Kylin Cooper was the leading tackler for Richmond with 12. Jayvonne Burdette had eight. Lewis Alexander and Dallas Hogg both had sacks, and Jai Allen had an interception.
