The Richmond Red Devils hosted Kokomo in a North Central Conference game on Friday, Feb. 13. It was a return home for Kokomo head coach Drew Schauss, a Centerville graduate, and a new player joined the Richmond rotation, who then led the team in scoring.
The Wildkats got off to a slow start and trailed 7-2 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Red Devils 19-11 in the second quarter to take a 21-18 halftime lead.
The Wildkats dominated the critical third quarter, pushing their advantage to 45-31 at the end of the third quarter en route to a 59-43 win. The win clinched the outright North Central Conference title for Kokomo.
Quenten Lopeman, who transferred to Richmond from Centerville in January, led the Red Devils and all game scorers with 19 points. Korbin Hammel led the ‘Kats with 18 points, DJ Nash scored 13 points and Erivon Burks scored 11 points.
