The Richmond boys basketball team traveled to Marion on Friday, Dec. 12, to renew their decades-old rivalry with the Giants. It was the North Central Conference opener for both schools. 

The game was close early. It was tied at 9-9 late in the first quarter before the Giants took a 12-10 lead at the end of the first. The Giants were clinging to a 16-15 lead with five minutes to play in the first half before they went on an 8-0 run to push their lead to 24-15. Richmond responded with back-to-back three-point baskets to pull to within three points at 24-21.

The Giants closed out the first half on an 11-2 run to build a 35-23 halftime lead.  The Giants opened the third quarter with back-to-back three-pointers and the Red Devils never recovered.

Chris Shawn Guerrero led the Giants in scoring with a game high of 24 points and Tim Jones added 19 points.

Jeravion “Ty” Johnson-Phillips led Richmond in scoring with 19 points. Eli Hubbard provided double-figure support with 10 points. Treston Bennett scored eight points, Thomas Stargell six points, Tyrel Brown five points and Dominick McKinley-Bigalk four points.
