The Northeastern Knights and the Shenandoah Raiders played the second semifinal game on Friday, March 6, at the Hagerstown sectional for the right to advance to the championship game. The two schools, which will be in the same conference next season, last met on Dec. 19 when the Raiders took a four-point win. There was little similarity in the two games.

The game was close early, with the Knights holding a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders exploded to score 23 second-quarter points to build a 31-23 halftime lead. They pushed their advantage to 47-30 by the end of the third quarter en route to a 58-42 win.

Garrett May led the Raiders’ scoring with 15 points, Zane Mitchell scored 12 points and Maddux Davis scored 11 points. Northeastern did not have a double-figure scorer. Gavin Craft and Logan Seal each scored eight points.

It was the last game in a Northeastern basketball uniform for seniors Kaleb Moore, Marshall Phillips and Seal.

Northeastern head coach Brent Ross reflected on the game and the season. “Their size hurts us tonight,” Ross said. “And you have to make shots. We did early, but we couldn’t sustain it. From where we started this season to where we ended it, we made a lot of progress. We will miss our seniors but we have a lot coming back next year and they have gained valuable experience this season. At one point in the season, we were 4-9 and we ended up winning 11 games.”
