Property tax bills aren’t necessarily good news, but it’s better to find the bill than miss a payment. The bills are arriving in Wayne County residents’ mailboxes about a month before spring payments are due.

According to Treasurer Beth Fields, the bills were mailed April 10. They include two payment coupons for payments due this year by 11:59 p.m. May 12 and by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 10.

There are a variety of ways to make payments:

  • Mail: Send payments to the Wayne County Treasurer, 401 E. Main St., Richmond IN 47374. The spring installment must be postmarked by May 12. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the treasurer’s office to mail a receipt.
  • Drop box: A box is located on the east side of the parking lot south of the Wayne County Administration Building, 401 E. Main St., Richmond. Do not put cash payments in the drop box. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the treasurer’s office to mail a receipt.
  • In-person: Payments may be made at the treasurer’s office on the second floor of the Wayne County Administration Building, 401 E. Main St., Richmond. Enter the south doors (marked A1) and turn left to the treasurer’s office. The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
  • Bank: First Bank Richmond, Merchants Bank in Richmond and Wayne Bank accept property tax payments. A fee applies for each remittance coupon accepted by a bank.
  • Online: Visit co.wayne.in.us/treasurer. Service fees apply for credit card, e-check and debit card payments.
  • Phone: Call 877-690-3729 and use jurisdiction code 2412 to make payments. Service fees apply for credit card, e-check and debit card payments.
