It’s already time to begin registering young children for preschool and kindergarten. Here’s information for several Wayne County schools.
Public schools
Western Wayne
Western Wayne Elementary is offering free ice cream as part of its kindergarten roundup.
Families with children turning 5 by Aug. 1 can register on the afternoon of Friday, March 13, at the elementary school.
They’ll meet kindergarten teachers and learn about the school and community resources.
Families must reserve a time slot at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. by calling 765-478-3622.
WWS also will offer a preschool roundup from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, April 10. The district is adding what Superintendent Kelly Plank described at January’s school board meeting as low-cost, full-day preschool in 2026-2027. She’s hopeful that program will help attract more families to attend WWS.

Richmond Community Schools
Richmond Community Schools will offer kindergarten and preschool registration on one night at all of its elementary schools.
The event takes place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Charles (2400 Reeveston Road), Crestdale (701 Crestdale Drive), Fairview (60 N.W. L St.), Starr (301 N. 19th St.), Vaile (300 S. 14th St.) and Westview (1707 S.W. A St.).
RCS’ preschool is for ages 3 to 5. This year, it has offered morning, afternoon and full-day classes.
Families should bring their child’s birth certificate and immunization records.
RCS also now operates Wayne County’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

Northeastern
A preschool open house will be offered Tuesday, April 14, by appointment. Four open house times will be offered for about 30 minutes each. Families will be able to tour the center, meet staff and pick up information, and their student can be screened.
If they wish to enroll, they will make an appointment between 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, to get the process started.
Kindergarten roundup will be Thursday, April 16. Morning and evening sessions will be offered by appointment only.
All families should bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency and guardianship paperwork if applicable.

Nettle Creek
Preschool registration opens Feb. 27. Links will be available through nettlecreekschools.com and through the district’s social media.
Kindergarten roundup takes place from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Hagerstown Elementary, 299 N. Sycamore St., Hagerstown.

Centerville-Abington
Rose Hamilton Elementary is offering online preregistration for its kindergarten roundup between March 16 and April 3.
The incoming kindergarten meet-and-greet takes place from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the school, at 1281 S. Round Barn Road. Parents and kids can meet teachers/staff, tour the kindergarten wing, turn in paperwork and ask questions.
Families must make appointments during preregistration for the roundup, which takes place on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10.
Preschool registration is available online April 13-28, followed by the Pre-K Roundup from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29.

Private schools
Community Christian
Community Christian School at 500 Elks Road in Richmond will have an open house for prospective incoming preschoolers through eighth graders from 2-4 p.m. March 1. Families can tour the school, meet teachers and staff, review curriculum, and ask questions. New family enrollment starts March 9.

Seton Catholic School
Seton offers preschool through 12th grade instruction at three buildings around Richmond. Ages three years through second grade attend Seton Catholic Primary School at 700 N. A St.
The Pop into Primary open house for ages 3-5 and families will be offered from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 11. RSVPs are requested at 765-962-5010.
Open enrollment has begun for all grades for 2026-2027. School officials say more than 90% of Seton students receive financial aid.

Richmond Friends School
Registration has begun for preschool through eighth grade at the independent Quaker school offering outdoor education, community involvement and project-based curriculum.
Trueblood Preschool is on Earlham College’s campus, operated by RFS, while other grades are at 607 W. Main St.
