John Miller

John Wilson Miller, born on October 27, 1930, in Cambridge City, Indiana, passed away on November 29, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by family. John was a beloved husband, father and a dedicated businessman who cherished his family above all else.

John graduated from Michigan State University in 1952, where he met his future wife, Katherine (Kay) Hammerstrom. After serving in the Army’s Counterintelligence Corp, John returned to run the family dairy business, Miller Corporation, eventually becoming its president. He expanded operations to include convenience stores and an ice plant, earning numerous accolades for his business leadership and dedication to his employees. John cherished the Cambridge City community, and throughout his life he kept up with Hoosier basketball, local happenings and everything that reminded him where he came from.

A love for Aspen, sparked by a ski trip in the 1960s, led John and Kay to move there full-time in the early 1990s.

John was known for his strict nature, sense of humor and immense pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Kay and daughter Janie. He is survived by his children Carol (Mike) Greenlee, Susan (Peter) Olmert, Lance Miller, Kacey Kuhn and Emily (Mike) Kloser, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His greatest wealth was his family, and his legacy is one of dedication to business, community and loved ones.

Service was held on December 6 at Christ Episcopal Church in Aspen, with reception following. To honor John’s lifelong passion for creating opportunities for others, the family suggests donations to Junior Achievement of Eastern Indiana.
