Danny (Dan) Williams, 72, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1953, in Richmond, Kentucky, to Herman Williams and Jewell (Wells). Dan graduated from National Trail High School in 1971. He worked various jobs before becoming a union plumber/pipefitter for the Local 440 out of Muncie and later Indianapolis. He retired after nearly 40 years in the trade.

Dan was an avid animal lover, not just for dogs or cats; his compassion for even the birds and wild animals (raccoons, opossums, etc.) earned him the nickname “Dan Francis” (after Saint Francis, patron saint of animals and nature).

He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Rebecca Heacox; sisters Annette Hartley (Chris), and Karen Mitchell; sister-in-law Francie Williams; daughter Micheala Hannah (Nolan); sons Casey Williams and Charlie Cones (Heather); as well as special friend and Micheala’s mother, Sherri Ludwig (Scott).

Dan and Becky shared many grandchildren, including Thatcher Morrison, Faelynn Hannah, Piper Wren Williams, and Desiree, Payton and Archer Cones, as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Williams, and a sister, Darlene LaForest. There will be a Celebration of Life for Dan at a later time.

The family wishes to extend Many Thanks for the support and care of the Reid Hospice Team. They were a true blessing during the past year.

Donations to Dan’s memory may be made to Animal Care Alliance or Help the Animals Inc., both located in Richmond, IN.

Community Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
