Jon Robert Beeson: A Life of Service, Leadership and Devotion

Jon Robert Beeson, age 84, passed away peacefully in Springdale, Ohio, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. His life was an example of service to his nation, faith and community, marked by a deep commitment to developing young men into outstanding citizens.

Born on June 10, 1941, in Hagerstown, Indiana, Jon was the son of Bob and Reba Beeson, who instilled in him a strong sense of community involvement through their own volunteerism and engagement. In Hagerstown, he was widely known by his childhood nickname, “Jonny Bob.”

Jon was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Hunnicutt Beeson, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by his children: Brenda Blunt (married to Jeff Blunt), and Brad Beeson (married to Felicia Beeson). He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren: Ben Pantalone, Sophie Pantalone and Casey Blunt.

Jon earned both a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University.

In 1966 and 1967, he served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant at his discharge. His service included a tour in Vietnam with the 1st Detachment of the U.S. Army Marine Maintenance Activity, where he was responsible for maintaining and repairing army equipment. This service had a profound impact on his personal and professional life.

Jon spent his entire 31-year professional career at Proctor & Gamble as an engineer and leader, retiring in 1998. He was highly respected by his peers and team members and worked to design and build machines for the manufacture of products like Luvs, Pampers and Always.

In 1985, Jon purchased and built Valley Self Storage. He ran the business until 2023, when he turned it over to his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jeff. He ran his business generously, helping tenants in financial difficulty and donating to charities and civic improvement projects in Wyoming.

Jon’s devotion to the Boy Scouts of America was a defining characteristic of his life. He joined as a child in Hagerstown and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He served as a Scoutmaster for troops in Forest Park, Ohio, and Wyoming, Ohio. He also served on the Advisory Board of Cincinnati’s Dan Beard Council. Jon believed deeply in the program’s lessons and devoted tens of thousands of hours to it, helping hundreds of boys become men and citizens.

His legacy in Scouting continued with his family: his son, Brad, who also achieved Eagle Scout; his grandson Ben followed suit in becoming an Eagle Scout; and his grandson Casey, who reached Star Scout.

Jon was an active congregant of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he lent his time, talent and leadership to numerous committees and youth programs. He was always the first to volunteer for church improvement initiatives. His favorite project was the annual Drive-Through Nativity, where he tirelessly worked to build and take down the scenes for visitors to view.

Jon’s unflagging devotion to his community through Scouts, church and dozens of other examples of engagement and philanthropy earned him Wyoming, Ohio, Citizen of the Year recognition.

Jon had a wide circle of very close friends and loved spending time with them, often enjoying golfing, travel and telling tall tales. He also traveled extensively with his wife, family and friends, visiting destinations such as Italy, Africa, China, the Galapagos and Peru, France, Canada, Ireland, and across the U.S. His favorite vacation spot was Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where he and his family spent summer vacations for 25 years.
