Thomas “Kackel” Kenneth Sasser, age 82, of Richmond, Indiana, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2022.
Born February 9, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, to Kenneth and Katherine Lawless Sasser, Thomas and his wife, Debra moved to Richmond in 1980. He worked as a plant manager for Mechanics Laundry until he retired. Thomas was a selfless man who did not know a stranger and was forever making those around him laugh. He enjoyed golfing, browsing Walmart for hours (just for the best deals), and watching the History channel. Thomas’ other hobbies included watching his grandkids play ball, cheer, sing in the choir, participate in theatre at RCT with his granddaughter, Alexis (Hurd) Robinson, and loving on his sweet yorkie pups, Bentley & Shelby.
Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Smith Sasser; favorite daughter, Bethann (Allen) Hurd; sons, Chris (Sherry) Sasser and Michael (Kelly) McGill; granddaughters, Alexis (Chad) Robinson, Annie Hurd (his princess), and Macy McGill; grandsons, Tyler (Ashley) Sasser and Allen-Michael Hurd; great-grandsons, Greyson Thomas Robinson, Gavin Brandon-Lee Robinson, and Evan Sasser; and dog daughter, Shelby Sasser. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy Sasser; grandsons, Brennen Hurd and Todd McGill; and his very best friend (son) Bentley Sasser who no doubt welcomed him with hugs and licks when he entered the gates of heaven. His love for life, wit and sense of humor will be missed. He was loved by all who knew him. Tom was not dealt the greatest hand in life, but that never defined him. He loved every day of his life and lived it to the fullest.
Visitation for Thomas Kenneth Sasser will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
