Sondra S. Himelick

Mrs. Sondra S. Himelick, 83, formerly of Fountain City, passed away on Wednesday, June 29 at IU Health Ball Memorial in Muncie, Indiana.

Sondra was born on April 27, 1939 in Richmond, Indiana to Joseph W. & Helen E. Turner Thalls. She was a 1957 graduate of Fountain City High School. She was united in marriage to Bill Himelick on July 27, 1957. They were blessed with nearly 63 married years and three daughters before Bill’s death on February 18, 2020.

Sondra worked at Reid Health as a Lab Tech before retirement. She was a member of the Boston Home Ec. Club and the Elkhorn Women’s Club. She was a woman of great faith who used to play the organ at the Boston United Church of Christ. She was member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond and attended the First Baptist Church in Muncie. Sondra enjoyed an array of activities such as playing cards, bingo and the competitive activities at Yorktown Manor. She loved spending time with her family and friends through personal visits and corresponding via email. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

Sondra will be missed by her daughters, Brenda Cox & husband, Glenn; Barbara Curry and Linda Rutherford; grandchildren, S. Renee, James, Sara, Adam, David, Matthew and Lindsay; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Faye Thalls; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Max & Joanne Himelick and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, David Lee Thalls.

Rev. James Heimlich will conduct a funeral ceremony at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 6, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, July 5, at the funeral home.
