Ruth P. Apple, age 61, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 30, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio, to Jimmy and Bonnie Hayes Cook, Ruth grew up in Wayne County, Indiana, where she lived until moving to Florida in 1994. Ruth served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Precision Building and Mechanical, LLC. She enjoyed traveling, including going on cruises, and collecting stamps in her passport. Two of her favorite places to visit were Venice, Italy and Paris, France. Ruth was also a restaurant connoisseur and avid soap opera watcher. Last year, she had the privilege of being baptized at Centerville Christian Church. Ruth was fiercely loyal and extremely giving to her husband and children and would do anything for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William “Bill” Apple; children, Brian (Chasity) Gray of Brookeland, Texas, Josh (Jeanie) Gray of Dawsonville, Georgia, and Stephanie (Christopher Boudreau) Apple of St. Petersburg, Florida; stepchildren, Jessica Estep and Ami Cross, both of Richmond and Michael Apple of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Joseph, Mia, Thomas, and Kimber Gray, Bradley Crump, and William Boudreau; 15 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Bonnie Cook of Richmond; siblings, John (Maryann) Cook and Jackson Cook, both of Richmond, Marty (Katie) Cook of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Hope (Mike) Baker of New Paris, Ohio; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeremy Gray; father; stepfather, Russell Cook; sister, Serena Short; and brother, Jimmie Cook.
Visitation for Ruth P. Apple will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Richmond officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
