Roberta Harding Johnson, age 89, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Reid Health.
Born March 18, 1932, in Disputanta, Kentucky, to Bert A. and Luvena Ballinger Harding, Roberta lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of her life. She was a member of Christ United Church in Richmond and taught Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church. Roberta served as a volunteer at Birthright and Golden LivingCenter – Golden Rule, both in Richmond. She was a wonderful cook and “professional” shopper. Roberta enjoyed gardening, tending flowers, and taking her dogs, Cookie and Skippy, for walks. She loved her family with all her heart and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, James L. Johnson; sons, Robert L. (Lynn) Johnson of Richmond, Jeffrey L. Johnson of Webster, Indiana, Christopher L. (Tammy) Johnson of Hagerstown, Indiana, Anthony L. (Joyce) Johnson of Fountain City, Indiana, and Patrick L. Johnson of Richmond; grandchildren, Scott, Kristin, Sarah, Ryan, Justin, Heather, Jeremy, Aaron, Alicia, Kate, Tyler, and Christy; great-grandchildren, Reese, Haislee, Rylan, Chloe, Alivia, Ruby, Draven, Daisy, Atticus, Miles, Rozlyn, and one due in July; sister, Argalee Phenis of Richmond; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Jop Adams; sisters, Dorothy Donanberg, Elnora Lakes, Ethel Bullock, Barbara H. Meece, Wanda L. Herron, and Beuana Adams; and brothers, Landis Harding and Lloyd Adams.
Visitation for Roberta Harding Johnson will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Christ United Church, 3430 Backmeyer Road, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Christ United Church with Rev. Brett Karanovich officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
