Marvin was born on July 14, 1942, in Columbus, Indiana, to Wilfred and Mable L. Engel Clarkson. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1961. Marvin was a member of Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 1047, who worked as a labor foreman for Milestone Contractors. He enjoyed doing yard work, remodeling homes, taking long rides, and spending time and taking naps with his dog, Mia.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Vickie Darlene Clarkson; children, Holly VanSickle and Joshua A. Clarkson, both of Richmond; stepdaughter, April Robinson of Richmond; grandchildren, Randy L. Stafford, Zachary VanSickle, and Trisha VanSickle; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Zeik, Ze’Rell, Za’Riah, Karma, Kieleigh, and Blessings; siblings, Janet Langevin and Roy Clarkson; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary Barnes and Raymond Clarkson.
A memorial service for Marvin Dale Clarkson will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
