Martha Ann Toney, 76, passed away at her home in Cambridge City Tuesday evening March 15, 2022 after a brief illness. Martha was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on February 23, 1946. She lived most of her life in the Cambridge City community and worked as a nurse’s aide in area nursing homes and for home health care. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed trips to Tennessee to visit her two boys. Martha married John Toney in an outdoor ceremony in Cambridge City on August 17, 1991. The wedding vows were quick, in order to beat an approaching thunderstorm, and gave them thirty wonderful years together.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Toney; 1 daughter, Gina Ann (Tony) Hale; 2 step-daughters, Julie Ann (Jeff) Wheeler and Alicia N. (Shaun) Mullin; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her 2 sons, Larry Wayne and Michael Wyatt Jeffries; father, Willie Beard; mother, Wilma (Rhodus) Batchfield; brother, Bill Jones.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday March 21, 2022 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Cremation will follow. Private burial services will be at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
