Born on May 25, 1922 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Marie was one of five daughters of Jasper and Gracie Mills Casey.
A registered nurse, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio State University and was employed at the Ohio State Medical Center for many years. She came to Connersville in 2013 to be near her family.
While in Columbus, Marie was very active in the Lions Club where she held many leadership positions throughout her prestigious career.
She was a faithful member of Solid Rock Temple. In her leisure, she enjoyed attending family activities and taking time writing letters to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Robert Bates, Samuella Brown, Alfreda Smith, and Willie Casey; grandchildren, Don Brown, Manuel Brown, Tristan Brown, Sonya Casey, Marlon Casey, Nina Casey, Billie Bates (Sunserraye Jackson), Jasper Brown, and Candice Ankrom (Dawan Jackson); and a sister, Icie Alexzander.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Willie James Casey; and sisters, Prudence Smith, Corrine Jackson, and Marianna Holly.
