Imogene Lakes, 81, Straughn, went to be with the Lord on Saturday February 26th, 2022, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. Imogene was born on December 9th, 1940, to Harlan and Lizzie Ellen (Rose) Gabbard in Foxtown, Kentucky. She worked as a secretary for Crop Production Services in Straughn for 15 years, and prior to that, she worked at Pickering Seeds. Imogene married the love of her life, the late Donnie Lakes, on April 3rd, 1959, in Connersville. Imogene thoroughly enjoyed her spare time, needle point, crocheting, quilting, reading, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Straughn Community Chapel and was also in the Ladies Fellowship Group.
Imogene is survived by her two children, Jerry Lakes and Ronny (Diana) Lakes; seven grandchildren, David, Steven, Tandy, Charles, Christina, Donnie, and Rachel; several great and great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Avery (Sue) Gabbard, Agnes Faber, Dale (Shirley) Gabbard, and Emma Lee (Bill) Keen.
Imogene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donnie on Oct. 3rd, 1999; daughter, Becky Lakes on Sept. 2nd, 2015, and sister Freida Gabbard.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Matthew Heath will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
