Freda Mae Smith (Gillentine) born March 28, 1937, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2022, at Reid Hospital at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Freda lived most of her life in Richmond, IN. She enjoyed playing Euchre and spending time with her children and grandbabies. She loved going to church and reading her Bible. Freda was loved by all who knew her. She exemplified the meaning of faithfulness to the Lord. Her knowledge of the Bible and prayers will be missed. To know her was to know the love of Christ.
Freda was born to OG Gillentine and Rose Etta Morton (George), in Somerset, KY. Freda is survived by her husband Harold Smith to whom she married on Nov 10, 1982. Children, Clyde Jr. Callahan of Florida, George Callahan, Sylvia (Terry) Gregory, Rosie (Mike) Guenther, Sherry (Pat) Barker, and Darrin (Jessica) Callahan all of Richmond. Step-children, David (Marsh) Callahan, Janice Callahan, Vince (Tammy) Smith, Price Smith, and Phyllis Clouse. 18 grandchildren,41 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Special granddaughter Destiny Callahan to whom she raised and sculpted.
Freda is preceded in death by her parents, brother Coleman Morton and sisters Minnie Doll, Rhonda Lawrence, and Patricia Crouch. Grandson Marty Belcher, daughter-in-law Cindy Callahan, and step-daughter Sandy Alvey.
Freda’s life will be celebrated on August 22, 2022, at Living Faith 3777 Nolands Fork Rd, Richmond, IN. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The service will begin at 1:00 pm officiated by Pastor Allen Henderson. Burial immediately following the service at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City, IN.
