Edward Lee Hamilton, 75, of New Castle passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at The Waters of New Castle.
He was born on April 24, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Richard and Pearl (Padgett) Hamilton.
Ed grew up in New Castle in Sunnyside. He was a 1965 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School and a 1969 graduate of Ball State University where he earned a degree in Art Education. Ed taught art classes at Southport Elementary School for several years before moving to Chicago in 1979. He lived six blocks from Wrigley field and owned and operated Century Pens on 2 North La Salle Street across from the Chicago Board of Trade building. Ed retired and returned to New Castle in 2018. He loved living on Cherry Street and hosting weekly social distanced dinners outside during Covid followed by the weekly Sunday evening dinners at Willie and Red’s.
Those left to cherish his memory include a brother, Donald E. “Donnie” (wife: Therese) Hamilton; a niece, Eleanor Hamilton; several cousins and special friends from Chicago and New Castle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant nephew, Robert Edward Hamilton.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday June 24, 2022 at South Mound Cemetery in Section 10 with Rick Schoeff officiating.
