Donald D. Lundy, 77, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 1, 1944 in Henry County, a son of the late John Hugh and Ardola Jane (Gable) Lundy.
Don retired from the State of Indiana in 2010 after 16 years of service with INDOT. He had previously worked for the city of New Castle as Street Commissioner. Don also worked at Modernfold Corporation and Henry County Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Germany with the Radio Corps during the Vietnam War and was second in command with the Civil Defense. Don loved camping and enjoyed steam engine shows, traveling, hiking, reading history books about presidents, NASCAR and watching his grandkids play.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Debra “Debbie” Lundy; children, Scott E. Lundy of New Castle, Teresa (Roy) Newman of New Castle, Jennifer Haddin of Sulphur Springs and Michael (Tina) Haddin of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Katelyn, Abagail, Brayden, Brock, Landrey, Makayla, Scottie, Emma, Evan, Jadzia and Haddin; brother, Howard (Janet) Lundy of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Shelly Dennis and Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW, American Legion and a contingent from the U.S. Army.
