Clara Juanita Shawhan, age 87, of Centerville, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Brickyard Healthcare – Golden Rule Care Center.
Born March 6, 1935, in Bristol, Tennessee, to Dave M. and Demie Marie Denton Williams, Juanita lived in this area most of her life. She was a 1954 graduate of Whitewater High School. Juanita was an office worker in manufacturing, retiring from Nettle Creek in Richmond. She was a member of Centerville Christian Church. Juanita loved to travel, and she was an avid reader and an Indiana University basketball fan.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Sue (Tim) Van Zant and Shirley Shawhan of Richmond; foster sister, Janice (Jess) Douglas of Whitewater, Indiana; step-grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Van Zant; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James E. Shawhan; parents; sister, Jane; and brother, William McDonald Williams. The family would like to give special thanks to Reid Hospice and the staff at Brickyard Healthcare – Golden Rule Care Center, especially Sherry McClain and Brandi Reece for exceptional care and support.
Visitation for Clara Juanita Shawhan will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
