Christopher Roger Jones, age 68, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Reid Health.
Born September 22, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana, to Burkette Roger and Edna McClure Jones, Chris had lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Knoxville, Tennessee, before settling in Richmond. He was a 1971 graduate of Northeastern High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. Chris received his degree from Galveston College in Galveston, Texas, and worked as a registered nurse at Shriners Pediatric Burn Center in Galveston and Davis Clinic of Neuro Psychiatric Research and Development. He was also the Director of Nursing at the first HIV extended care facility in the state of Indiana – Parkview Extended Care Facility in Indianapolis. Chris was certified as a psychiatric RN with the ANCC and was also a certified addiction recovery nurse. He won an Indiana Cares Humanitarian Award for his HIV work in 1996.
Survivors include his son, Jacob Jones of Richmond; mother, Edna Jones of Morristown, Tennessee; sister, Lori (Jim) Best of Morristown; nieces, Jessica (Eric) Collins of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Katie Jones of Louisville, Kentucky; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Jones; father, Burkette Jones; and brother, Timothy Jones.
A celebration of life for Christopher Roger Jones will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Grace Point Baptist Church, 1170 Highway 11 E, Talbot, Tennessee. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
