Billie J. Newton, age 84, passed away on September 8, 2022, at Golden Rule in Richmond. Billie was born on April 20, 1938, in Heidelberg, Kentucky, one of nine children of Titus and Della Smith Newton.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Vivian Lainhart Newton on July 11, 1959, in Fountain City, IN. They were able to enjoy 55 years together before her death in 2014. Billie and Vivian were blessed with three children.
After 38 years of faithful service, he retired from Western Cullen Hayes as a welder where he built safety equipment for the railroad. He was a member of the UAW Local 1244.
Billie loved to go fishing, hunting or just being outdoors and listening to a wide variety of music. You could find him relaxing in his gardens or watching the hummingbirds, but above all he loved to spend time with his family.
Those that survive to cherish his love and memories include his children, Teresa (Rodney) Harris, Michelle (Brian) Anderson and Billie T. (Mary Ann) Newton; and six grandchildren, Kristi, Amber, Ashlee, Danielle, Brian, and Rachel. He will be thought of often by his 17 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Glen Moore; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dianah Moore, Anna Jackson, Lillian Thomas, and Calla York; brothers, James Newton, Charles Newton, Neil Newton, and Virgil Newton; and a granddaughter, Brandi.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening September 12, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N Main, Liberty, IN. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday September 13, 2022, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Elkhorn Cemetery.
