Twilla Mae Sutton, age 85, a New Castle resident, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born November 7, 1935 in New Castle, a daughter of the late William L. and Cleo Olive Moore Ocker.
She was a New Castle resident most of her life and a graduate of Mt. Summit High School. Twilla was retired from the Top Hat Two Pizza Shop after 40 years of
service. Twilla was very dedicated to her customers and made every effort to treat them as if they were her own family. She also worked several years as a caregiver for children as a foster grandparent. Twilla had a special love and passion for children and their welfare. She had a gift from God that she shared freely with other people and that was “making others around you feel important.” She also was a homemaker and treasured being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved family activities and family reunions.
Left to cherish her loving memory include her husband of 52 years, William D. Sutton, whom she married in 1969; six children, Norma Jean Conner Flynn of Dahlonga, Georgia, Connie M. Freeman of Lewisville, Indiana, Alfred B. Conner of Ohio, James D. and Danny Sutton of New Castle and Beverly D. Groce of Mechanicsburg, Indiana; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis “Frank” Ocker of Springport. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Akers; three siblings, Paul and Fredrick Ocker, and Laura McQueen.
The Sutton family would like to thank the many customers Twilla served and for making her feel special and appreciated during her many years working at the Top Hat Two Pizza Shop.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Reverend Jeff Johnson officiating.
