CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Shirley Nadine Powell, age 94, of Centerville, Indiana, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Reid Health.

Born March 7, 1927, in Ranlo, North Carolina, to Leon and Effie Leona Rish Lucas, Shirley moved to Wayne County, Indiana, in 1955. She was a member of the Centerville Christian Church, where she enjoyed being part of the Senior Saints. Shirley was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts and 4H, and was very active in the Gingham Gals Extension Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley P. (Jimmy) Chaisson and Barbara L. Talbot, both of Richmond and Deborah A. (Timm) Long of Mooresville, Indiana; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles W. “Bill” Powell, who died July 25, 1998; son-in-law, Raymond W. Talbot; parents; and six sisters.

Visitation for Shirley Nadine Powell will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
