Sharlee Marie Amick passed away November 11, 2021 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. Her life was filled with love and laughter.
Sharlee was born August 4, 1934 in Rushville, IN, the eldest of three girls. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Amick, on November 30, 1951.
She spent most of her life as a loving full-time mom & grandma, but enjoyed her time working at Burris School in Muncie, IN before having children. She also volunteered with The Huddleston House & Mrs. Leapleys Special Education program at Western Wayne Schools.
Sharlee loved reading True Crime & mysteries before it was cool, celebrated holidays by decorating to excess, and most of all loved being with her “kids”, Rick, Mike, Emily and all of their friends who she encouraged to call her “mom” or “Grandma”.
She is preceded death by her husband, Richard “Doc” Amick, son Rick, mother Ethel and father Reece Voiles. She is survived by her son Michael Amick, granddaughter, Emily Amick-O’Dwyer, daughter-in-law Teresa and grandson-in-law Shaun O’Dwyer, as well as her sisters Toni and Sue& her nieces and nephews.
Her family respects her wishes by not having a public funeral, but will have a gathering for extended family and friends on November 27th from 2-6pm at 405 S. Walnut St., Cambridge City. All who wish to celebrate Sharlee’s life are invited to attend. Food and drinks will be served.
