Ronnie “Smokey” Massengale, age 65, a New Castle resident, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Henry Community Health. He was born on January 19, 1955 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Eugene and Bonnie Massengale.
Smokey enjoyed fishing, watching his cooking shows, spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to watch the Colts Football games with his grandson, Noah. Smokey enjoyed building things and had worked in construction most of his life.
He is survived by his longtime companion of over forty years, Kathy Poore; a daughter, Misty Everman; a son, Michael “Bundy” Massengale; three grandchildren, Noah, Mofield, Rylee Ross, and Chloe Ross; four brothers, Kenneth Massengale, David Massengale, Dennis Massengale (Karen Cochren) and Steve Massengale; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James “J.W.” Massengale, Mike “Sage” Massengale, and Jeff Massengale; maternal grandparents, John and Oma Dehart and paternal grandparents, James and Ethel Massengale; also, his best friend earlier this year, Brian Young, who was like a brother to him.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2020 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle.
