Phillip Allan Michael, age 77, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

Born January 25, 1944, in Richmond, Indiana, to Samuel Paul and Wyvonna Mildred Ruby Michael, Phillip was a life-long resident of this community. He attended Richmond High School. Phillip retired as captain of the Richmond Fire Department in 1996 and was awarded the Richmond Fire Department Company of the Quarter, in honor and appreciation of his more than 28 years of service. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Phillip enjoyed nature, camping, and watching movies.

Survivors include his daughter, Keri Marlene Michael-Lackey of Fountain City, Indiana; sons, John Phillip (Kim) Michael and Joseph Allan (LuAnne) Michael, both of Richmond; grandchildren, John and Samantha Lackey and Andrew Michael; sisters, Linda (Clair) Awong of Hawaii and Esther (Gordon) Mack of Centerville, Indiana; brother, Steve (Debbie) Michael of Richmond; sister-in-law, Faye Michael of Richmond; nieces, including special niece, Sheryl Totten; nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Marlene Kay Golay Michael, who died September 14, 2005; granddaughter, Marissa Michael; parents; sister, Diana Charles; and brothers, Ben and Roland Michael.

Visitation for Phillip Allan Michael will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Monaghan officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
