Mark Schlotterbeck, 61, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 26, 2021 at The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, Illinois after a two-year journey with Mantle Cell Lymphoma Cancer.
He was born on June 24, 1959 in Richmond, a son of the late Fred and Mary Joan (Tincher) Schlotterbeck.
During high school, Mark sang in the New Creations Choir, a Christian singing group in Richmond. He attended Ball State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Teacher Education. Mark just completed his 30th year with the New Castle Community School Corporation teaching students with special needs. He was also a member for over 35 years at Memorial Baptist Church in New Castle where he was an Elder, led the music during worship, worked with the youth, and taught Sunday School. Mark married the love of his life, Norene Headlee on September 24, 1983. The two of them led the Special Ministries Bible Study at Memorial Baptist Church as well. It was a joy for Mark to serve the Lord. Mark loved to travel with his family, loved family get-togethers, and loved spending time with his granddog, Sir Winston.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Norene Schlotterbeck; a daughter, Raeanne Schlotterbeck (fiancé: Peter Yatska); brother, Tim (wife: Gina) Schlotterbeck and Mark’s twin sister, Louanne (husband: Lance) Berryman; mother-in-law, Helen R. Singleton; nieces and nephews, Amanda (husband: Travis) Owens, Rachel (husband: Casey) Reames, Andrew (wife: Laura) Berryman and Kelly Berryman; great-nieces and nephews, Ethan, Maddie, Roen, Raylan, Molly, Max, Lucy and numerous extended family members. Mark was a father figure to many, especially to Zachery Utterbeck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Mary Schlotterbeck and maternal grandparents, Charles and Lucy Tincher; his step father-in-law Raymond Singleton and father-in-law Marion Headlee.
