Lorena Ann Gromer, 83, Cambridge City,passed away Friday morning April 9, 2021 at Heritage House in Connersville, Indiana. A daughter of the late William and Katherine “Katie” (Greiner) Rogers, Lorena was born on September 14, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana. Lorena was a lifelong member of the Cambridge City community and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955 and attended Indiana University. Lorena married the late Franklin D. Gromer at St. Elizabeth Church on July 1, 1961. She retired from the State of Indiana for whom she managed the Office of Work Force Development in Richmond. Following retirement, Lorena eagerly went to work as the longtime Director at the Western Wayne Senior Center. Lorena was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and had served as President of the Indiana State Employees Association. Lorena worked hard all her life helping others and will be missed by her loving family, friends and community.
Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Bill and Debbie Gromer; 2 grandsons, Ian and Zach (Katrena) Gromer; 2 great grandchildren, Hayden Rhys and Sophia Grace Gromer all of Greenwood; 1 sister, B. Jo Brewer of Longview, WA.
Lorena was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on August 21, 2012 and her brother, Edwin Rogers.
Visitation will be on Friday April 16, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church 333 W. Maple St.- Cambridge City, IN 47327 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the reciting of the rosary at 12:30 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m.. Fr. John Luerman and Fr. John Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
