Laura Katherine Bracken, 62, of Parker City, passed away Monday, October 4th, 2021 at IU Health University Hospital, Indianapolis after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Laura was born in Greenfield, Indiana on May 11th, 1959 to William and Reba (Wilson) McConnell.

Laura graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1977. She was a graduate of Ball State University, Bachelor of Arts – 1983, and a graduate of the University of South Florida, Master of Arts – 2000. She was a certified educator in the state of Florida teaching for eleven years at the Citrus Park Elementary School in Tampa, Florida. Prior to working as an elementary school teacher, she worked as a computer aided design specialist in the engineering departments of several manufacturing companies in the states of Indiana and Florida.

Laura was always a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Mark, but most of all a special “mom” to her fur babies, who she loved so dearly. She was a very kind hearted, caring and giving woman as everyone who knew her can attest.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Bracken; siblings, Jeff (Mary) McConnell, Bill (Kristin) McConnell, Jim (Lisa) McConnell and Beth (Eric) Davis; 13 nieces & nephews; and, 12 great nieces & nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a celebration of Laura’s life from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, November 6th at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
