Joylene A. “Joy” Hinshaw, 81, of Richmond, passed away on Friday, January 15.
She was born in Wilmington, Ohio on July 5, 1939, to William A. & Florence V. Kearns Martin, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1957 graduate of Lynn High School and attended Miami Jacobs Business College.
Joy married Robert “Bob” Hinshaw 62 years ago on November 22, 1958. They were blessed with two children. Joy formerly worked as a secretary in the office of The Palladium-Item and AVCO. She retired from the Wayne County Auditors Office in 2007 after 25 years of service. Joy enjoyed baking and attending family reunions. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time boating on the lakes. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn.
Joy will be missed by her daughter, Debbie Tiemann & husband, Phil; son, Bruce Hinshaw & wife, Susan; 4 grandchildren, Brittney Helt & husband, Alex, Lindsey Tiemann, Alan Hinshaw & wife, Rachel, Kristen Bingham & husband, Sean; 1 great granddaughter, Rebecca (Becca) Hinshaw; sister, Janet Retter; sister-in-law, Marilyn Engle; brother, Danny Martin & wife, Phyllis; 3 nieces and 6 nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bob, who passed away on December 28, 2020.
Joy’s family will hold a private service at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Spartanburg Cemetery.
