Joann A. Wittman, 94, passed away early Thursday morning April 22, 2021. She lived in Belleville, Illinois with her son, Charles Wittman, and his wife, Linda Wittman. She died from stroke complications which she suffered four weeks earlier. Joann was born in Brookville, Indiana on October 29, 1926, to Joseph and Anne Dickman and was raised in Webster Indiana on the family farm. Joann married the late Carl W. Wittman on September 29, 1956, and moved to Dublin in 1961 where they lived for 55 years. Joann was a homemaker and mother. She also worked as a receptionist for Doctor Hollenberg in Hagerstown, Indiana for many years. Joann was a member of St Elizabeth Catholic Church until she moved to Illinois. She enjoyed the friendly fellowship and the opportunity to serve fellow parishioners. She volunteered for many years in the parish kitchen and strove to set a Godly example. As a member of the Golay Center exercise group, Joann enjoyed the health benefits of heathy eating and exercise but also the enduring friendship and support of her fellow exercise cohorts. She continued to exercise throughout her adult life and made friends at her new gym in Illinois. In 2016, she moved to live with her son and family in Belleville Illinois where she enjoyed baking cookies for her grand and great grandchildren. Joann was active and enjoyed full independence all of her life.Joann is survived by her son, Charlie (wife Linda), of Belleville, IL. Grandchildren, Joseph Wittman, Candace Noonan (husband Mike) and Hilary Green (husband Brad), and her Great grandchildren, Kiley and Cooper Noonan. She is survived by her brother Clifford (Mattha Jane) Dickman of Richmond, Indiana, two sisters, Susann Sandala of Noblesville, Indiana; and Corrine Pentecost of Centerville, Indiana. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
