Jesse “Gene” Rigney, 76, Dublin, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon October 5, 2021 from Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana from complications of COVID19. He was born on May 30, 1945 to the late Eugene “Judge” and Jessie (Doss) Rigney in Touristville, Kentucky and was raised in Monticello, Kentucky. He worked at PK Lumber in Cambridge City for several years and retired after 18 years of service from the State of Indiana where he was employed at Richmond State Hospital and Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightstown . He loved and enjoyed reading the Bible (which he read through several times) and sharing his faith. He played guitar and harmonica and enjoyed singing. Gene also liked to garden and drive through the country to watch the farmers plant and harvest their crops.
Gene leaves behind his wife of nearly 52 years, the former Marcia Kay Quesenberry. They were married on October 17, 1969; 3 children, Rick (Tina) Rigney of Goldsboro, NC, Tim Rigney of Dublin and Kimberly Hancock of New Castle; grandchildren, Caleb Orr, Kaylee and Rylee Weston, Jaden Johnson, Jon Baker, Candace Rigney, Kendra (Jeffrey) Smith and Jessica Colbert; 2 great grandsons, Eli Atwood (with whom he had a special bond) and Aydan Thomas Smith; 3 great granddaughters, Raelynn Hancock, Malory and Hannah Colbert.
Gene was preceded by a daughter, Shellie Renee Rigney-Orr on June 26, 2018; grandson, James Dalton Baker on January 19, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday October 11, 2021 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Gene’s son, Pastor Rick Rigney will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday October 10th.
