He was born in New Castle on December 29, 1948 to Charles and Juanita (Davis) Shelton and was a life long resident of the Hagerstown area.
Jerry was a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp. and was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Cruse) Shelton; 3 children, David (Joy) Shelton, Kim (Ben) Parsons and Shiloh (Kathy) Shelton; 4 step-children, Christie Middleton, Mike Hites, Samantha Gard and John Baumer; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Willard “Bud” Shelton of Richmond, Kenny (Karen) Shelton of Centerville, Joan Hatfield of Cambridge City, Wilma (Danny) Younger of Cambridge City, Debbie Flanagan of New Castle, Max (Valerie) Shelton of Hagerstown, Shirley (Dallas) Dale 0f Washington State and Mary (Charles) Johnson of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Claudia Payne.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in West Lawn Cemetery.
The family invites everyone to join them for a celebration of Jerry’s life at American Legion Post 333 on Friday, May 14, from 2 to 7 PM.
