George E. Chaney Jr., age 84, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on November 1, 2021. He was born March 19, 1937, to George and Virginia Marie Chaney Sr.
George was born and raised in Everton, Indiana, and was a graduate of Connersville Senior High School. He had lived 61 years in Wayne County and was retired from Belden Corporation.
George loved character carving; he was a mentor and loved to teach others his passion. He was a giving man; often giving away his carved possessions versus selling them. George was a great storyteller, and he enjoyed riding motorcycles earlier in his life, camping and fishing. George was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Chaney; two daughters: Debra Cox (husband, Dan) and Diana Francis (husband, Greg); two sons: George Wesley Chaney (special friend, Caroline Bieser) and Bradley Chaney (wife, Janet); eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother: Herman Chaney; three sisters: Anna Walker, Marilyn Ailes and Ellen Weaver; and a host of other relatives and friends including his special friends, his carving buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
