Frances Smith Workman, 86, of Hagerstown, died Friday, April 23, 2021, at Glen Oaks Health Campus, New Castle.

She was born on July 8, 1934 in Cumberland, Kentucky to Clarence and Martha (Williams) Smith. A 1951 graduate of Greens Fork High School, Frances was the sole graduate that year.

A former employee of Hagerstown High School, she retired from US Government Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service after many years of service

Frances was married/divorced to the late Don Workman of Hagerstown. Frances was an avid golfer and was a member of Hartley Hills Country Club and a member of the Thursday Women’s Golf League. She attended the Hagerstown United Methodist Church. She played in several Bridge clubs and Euchre at the senior center. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing the piano and organ, baking pies and just generally staying busy. After retirement, she traveled with her sisters going on cruises, traveling abroad and visiting state capitals around the US.

She is survived by her two children Wally (Eldona) Workman and Suzy Lebo; 4 grandchildren, Casey (Shaun) Lieberman, Catey Workman, Abby Lebo, and Zack Lebo; great-grandchildren Jake, Ty and Izzy Lieberman, Crey Davey and Collen King; several cousins and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Jane Fisher and MaryAnn Mullins.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 28, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family at Greens Fork South Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hagerstown, Jefferson Twp Public Library.
